The start of the NOSSA annual general meeting used to be somewhat of a sport in itself, with delegates scrambling to grab multi-coloured hard copies of convener reports so they could quickly review before the meeting started. Throughout that time, though I was always one of the first to arrive at these meetings, I would always be missing a report or two.

Fast forward a decade or so and I continue to marvel at the efficiency these meetings demonstrate, even in the face of what can be extremely long and varied agendas.

At this Friday’s NOSSA AGM, for example, delegates had to wade through some 41 separate motions, a plethora of reports, several discussion items and a half dozen award presentations.

That in most years this docket is dispensed of prior to lunch break might be considered somewhat of a minor miracle, especially when one ponders the recent past and the future implications of the measures under active consideration.

To all those attending this year’s NOSSA AGM, thanks very sincerely for your continued support and involvement. High school sports can only succeed with this level of commitment, both on and off the playing surface.
